The spread of the coronavirus means that the healthcare system and medical professionals are getting more attention than usual. Lots of people are pointing out the flaws in the system and Twitter user Doctorow is one of them. But this isn’t another coronavirus story.

According to Doctorow, the US has “the worst healthcare in the developed world.” He then explains why using his personal experience with health insurance and how his provider refused to cover the inexpensive medication that he needed. Scroll down to read Doctorow’s story in his own words.

Doctorow’s thread got over 3.4k likes on Twitter and more than 1.1k people retweeted it. The thread also spread to other social media channels, including Imgur where it got over 4.8k upvotes and was viewed by more than 131k users. Scroll down for Bored Panda’s interview with Doctorow about US healthcare and how it can be improved.

Doctorow explained what he went through with his health insurance provider and why, in his opinion, the US has “the worst” healthcare

A lot of people agreed with the Twitter user’s opinion about how the system in the US needs to be improved. Preferably, by following the fully-functioning example set by other developed countries.

The Atlantic writes that the US has the lowest-performing healthcare system in developed countries, according to the Commonwealth Fund. The highest performing nations are the UK, the Netherlands, and Australia, even though the US spends the most money.

David Blumenthal, president of the Commonwealth Fund, said that this is “consistent across 20 years.” He explained that there are 3 reasons why the US can’t catch up to its allies.

First of all, there’s a lack of insurance coverage: in 2016, over 27 million Americans were uninsured. That’s because they simply can’t afford it. “The literature on insurance demonstrates that having insurance lowers mortality. It is equivalent to a public health intervention,” Blumenthal said.

He also pointed out that the US wastes a lot of money on administration. “Doctors and patients [report] wasting time on billing and insurance claims. Other countries that rely on private health insurers, like the Netherlands, minimize some of these problems by standardizing basic benefit packages, which can both reduce administrative burden for providers and ensure that patients face predictable copayments,” the Commonwealth Fund reports.

Lastly, we have underperforming primary care in the US. “We have a very disorganized, fragmented, inefficient and under-resourced primary care system,” Blumenthal explained. “Many primary-care physicians struggle to receive relevant clinical information from specialists and hospitals. We don’t invest in social services, which are important determinants of health.”

In other words, if the US improves in these 3 key areas, it can solve the problem at its source and help millions of Americans get the care they deserve.

Doctorow told us that, in his opinion, creating a Medicare for All system with a single payer and eliminating the private insurance industry is the best way that the US can catch up to other developed countries.

“The poorest and richest Americans should rely on the same healthcare system so that anything that makes things better for influential, connected wealthy people makes things better for the nation,” he said.

According to Doctorow, the main thing holding the US healthcare system back is “unlimited political spending by a concentrated, highly profitable insurance industry.”

Doctorow said that this is due to a combination of “Citizens United and lax campaign finance laws; financial secrecy laws that allow for dark money campaigns; antitrust malpractice that has led to massive concentration in the health (and every other) industry; the rise of private equity and its financially destructive MO, which has transformed healthcare by consolidating hospitals, doctor’s groups, labs, etc under PE structures that rely on debt-loading and other extractive practices.”

But what should Americans who can’t afford to be insured do? Doctorow had this to say: “Mobilize. Find a candidate that supports Medicare for All and donate, volunteer, and vote for them. This is a year in which M4A’s significance and profile are on a rise and rise with no peak in sight. It’s our moment.”

“The American healthcare scandal is a microcosm for dozens of similar circumstances, in which concentrated industries collect monopoly rents that they can use to influence politicians,” he said. “The policies that these politicians create—and the regulators who enforce them—are designed to make the donor class wealthier, not to improve the lives of the American people.”

He continued: “Whether it’s cable and wireless, energy, finance, movies, music, online services, pharma, eyewear, or even pro wrestling, industries have dwindled to a handful of companies that use anticompetitive tactics to crush or buy competitors, reducing choice, competition, and the hope of a pluralistic future.”

With the coronavirus public health crisis in full swing, The Department of State has restricted travel from and to the US. Chinese and Iranian citizens are no longer allowed to enter the country, and any US national coming back from one of the emergency-stricken countries is required to self-quarantine for 14 days. Should be enough to stay home, you think.

But for some individuals, slashed airline prices are all it takes to pack a bag and get into holiday mode. Hence, people are giving a roasting meme treatment to everyone with a positive coronavirus test who thinks it’s the right time to travel. Let’s take look at some of best pieces so far.

Even though the Center For Disease Control And Prevention has made it clear that people should avoid non-essential travel, the recent travel deals for international and domestic flights might look tempting. Expedia offers a flight from New York to Paris for only 112 dollars on March 23. Austin Horowitz, an aviation management consultant, explains that “it’s almost a negative price that airlines will have to pay to get people to fly.” But airlines are willing to keep prices so low in order to make people start traveling again.

Some believe that the risk of air travel comes down to the recycled air all passengers breathe during a flight. All planes have HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filters installed to filter out 99.9% percent of dust, mold, and microbes. If they work properly, then there’s no reason to worry about the air too much. The close proximity between passengers and various surfaces on the plane may cause far greater risk. If you do fly, then remember to wash your hands frequently throughout the flight and try not to touch your face.

While music lovers probably have some kind of affinity towards a certain instrument, whether that would be the guitar, piano, drums or something a tiny bit more extravagant like, for example, a cello, this instrument we‘ll be presenting to you today, rarely gets any attention. To be more precise, most people haven‘t even heard of it. However, you have most likely heard the sound it creates in the soundtrack of some crowd-pleasing science fiction movie like “Interstellar”. This rare instrument called the cristal baschet is a one-of-a-kind percussive organ that transports listeners to the endlessness of outer space with its otherworldly sound.

This odd-looking instrument is called a cristal baschet and was invented back in 1952

This unique instrument was invented by two French brothers back in 1952 and the sound it outputs is enchantingly artful. While it certainly looks kinda odd, you can’t listen to it without some kind of admiration. It’s made of glass rods, fiberglass cones, and a large steel plate, as well as some wooden construction parts.

It was invented by brothers Bernard and François Baschet and was named after its inventors

The unique instrument is constructed from glass rods, fiberglass cones, and a large steel plate

Players use water to wet their fingers before touching the glass rods for turning the finger rubs and drags into enchanting echoes that sound as if they’re from another world. The cristal baschet can range up to six octaves and have 56 chromatically tuned glass rods.

Players wet their fingers before playing the instrument so they can create vibrations

The vibrations are then amplified by the cones and the plate, creating the uniquely atmospheric sound

Listen to cristal baschet’s magical sound right here

Models of the crystal organs can range from 3.5 to as much as 6 octaves

This unique instrument is loved by soundtrack composers and can be often heard in movies as well known as “Interstellar”. Gorillaz, Radiohead, Tom Waits are known to have used this instrument in their musical compositions as well.

The instrument sometimes also called the crystal organ can have as much as 56 glass rods

Just because some of us are stuck at home doesn’t mean that fashion rules suddenly fly out the window! Whether you’re staying inside or going out for a quick breath of fresh air (remember social distancing, people!), it’s important that you look good. If you look good, you feel good.

Unfortunately, there are some truly horrific fashion disasters out there that each and every one of us Pandas should steer clear of! (Socks with sandals? Unintentionally hilarious outfits? Yuck!) However, some people have become victims of fashion fails. That’s why Bored Panda brings you this list that should act as a warning for all of you fashion-minded individuals out there.

Remember to upvote your faves and let us know in the comments if you’ve ever fallen prey to fashion fails yourself.

The best way to avoid fashion fails is to go for stylish wins, wouldn’t you agree? Cosmopolitan has some great advice for women who want to be at the cutting edge of Spring/Summer 2020 trends that designers are hyped up about.

They can wear shirt dresses and short suits, go for Victorian necklines, give ankle chains (or shoes with them) a try, and wear mixed floral patterns. Not all at once, though!

Meanwhile, Ask Men has a lot of different things on their radar for what men should wear if they want to be hip and fashionable in the first half of 2020. What’s in right now are billowy bowling shirts in tropical colors, denim on denim (a callback to the 1990s perhaps?), animal prints, and bomber jackets (always in vogue, in our opinion).

If none of these are to your liking, Ask Men says satin clothing is also trending. As are pinstriped suits, belt-cinched waists, as well as vests and tank tops. We’re hyped up for pinstriped suits and bomber jackets, but it’ll take some time for us to get used to these other fashion trends.

When it comes to both men and women’s clothing, there are several faux pas. Things that you should never ever do. For example, if you’re wearing a cotton shirt, it has to be ironed! No excuses.

Also, unless you’re doing this on purpose, avoid clothes that don’t fit like the plague. Your clothes should be tailored to your build, not oversized or undersized. You should also avoid high heels that you can’t walk in, clothes with holes in them, and Ugg boots outside your home (more like Ugh boots, are we right?). Last but not least—don’t wear socks with sandals. Just don’t.

Go big or go home? How about go small and conquer the Internet while securing a career in the craft you love? Eden Kozokaro, aka Kozo Tattoo, is a tattoo artist from Israel who made a name for himself with his micro designs. From popular TV shows and movies to comic books and music, Eden’s colorful miniatures often feature pop culture elements, and look so detailed and precise, the man could’ve easily become a surgeon. Love this!

Eden’s career as a tattoo artist began when one of his skater friends bought the cheapest machine they could find from eBay. “He let me try it out and eventually, he became my first client. Then I offered free tattoos to everyone I knew,” he told Inked Magazine.

The Israeli said that the tattoo culture in his country is very small, loving, and supportive. “My tattooer friends and I are trying our best to show everyone that tattoos are nothing less than an expression of art.”

Walle is one of my favorite animation. I wanted a tatoo like this!

“I tried to find a way to express my classical painting knowledge within a size that could fit people who can’t commit for a sleeve or big work,” Eden explained what pushed him towards focusing on micro tattoos. “I try to design as minimalistically as possible. In design, I believe that less is more.”

However, some people think minimalistic colored tattoos won’t heal well. “That’s why it’s important for me to post my healed tattoos.”

Now, Eden is part of Keith “Bang Bang” McCurdy’s prestigious crew. “Bang Bang” has left his mark on Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Miley Cyrus. Many consider him to be the most famous tattoo artist in the world, or as some have said, tattoo artist to the most famous in the world.

Traveling and staying at hotels can become lonely. So lonely even the TV and the mini-bar can’t numb the emptiness. But one hotel in Mississippi has found the perfect way to warm their guests’ lonesome hearts.

Home2 Suites by Hilton Biloxi North/D’Iberville has been operating a program called Fostering Hope. Running since October 2018, it brings shelter dogs from the Humane Society of South Mississippi to the hotel’s lobby and offers guests the chance to foster the adorable pets in their rooms while they’re staying at the facility. Moreover, if people really hit it off with their companions, they can adopt them on their way out.

Unfollow

I want it!

This frees up space at the shelter — which takes in about 8,000 dogs a year and adopts out close to 80% of them — so more doggos can get the help they need and increases the chances for these dogs to get noticed and find their new family. And since the hotel specializes in long-term visits (many guests book a room for months at a time), it’s the perfect venue for such an initiative.

“They have a lot of transient guests who stay for months at a time near our army and navy bases and that’s just enough time to fall in love with a dog,” Bianca Janik, the shelter’s relations manager, told USA TODAY.

Unfollow

Does anyone else want to adopt this cute little doggo?

The brilliant program was the idea of Teresa Johnston, the hotel’s sales director. After Janik researched the hotel, she decided it was an “ideal set-up” for an extended foster program.

“Teresa thought they needed to set their hotel apart and this was it. She wanted to have the business more involved with the community. It was a very out-of-the-box way to find our animals’ new homes so we were on board,” Janik explained.

Unfollow

Wait. Isn’t there supposed to be a dog here? All I see are a bunch of towels.

If guests wish to take home a dog from the program, all they have to do is fill out an application and pay the $50 adoption fee at the hotel.

“We have a very open adoption program,” Janik said. “People are trying to do the right thing by adopting. We reserve the right to deny. (We) may tell them we don’t feel comfortable, come visit our shelter tomorrow and we’ll find one that is right.”

So far, at least 33 guests have gone home with one of the Home 2 Suites “Fostering Hope” dogs.

When we were kids, most of us wanted to be actors, teachers, firefighters, and astronauts. However, times are changing and some unique aspirations crop up with new generations. This 10-year-old dreams of becoming a tattoo artist (and a special effects makeup artist as well as an actor) when he grows up. And Thomas is definitely working towards achieving his dream.

Thomas’ mother Katie Eklund shared some of the boy’s works on Facebook where they gained traction. Bored Panda reached out to the mother for additional details and she kindly provided some interesting info.

“My son’s name is Thomas Spring but his nickname is Bubba. He is the youngest of 5 siblings,” Katie said, “His father is a musician and drummer for formal metal band Brutal Demise, his mother is a fine art and fantasy photographer and creator of Horns & Halos Photography, and his stepfather is an Engineer who is also a talented artist and has done tattoos in the past.” The woman also revealed that the family is from Muskegon, Michigan.

Thomas Spring is a 10 Y.O. boy with a knack for art, especially tattoos

“Thomas always had a pen and paper in hand since he was around 2 or 3 years old learning to write and color,” Katie explained when the boy’s passion began. At first, Thomas was fond of drawing silly faces and animals, but soon he moved on to different subjects. “He started to develop a taste in heavy metal music since his dad is a musician and also covered in tattoos,” the mother talked about the boy’s inspiration.
“Thomas started tracing skulls and anatomically correct hearts, now he free hands and “eyeballs” all of those things, including characters like Pennywise and The Joker, and various DC and Marvel Comics,” she explained. “He loves face painting and turning himself into different characters too, often dressing up as The Joker and using household supplies to create SFX makeup,” Katie revealed some of Thomas’ other artistic passions.

“Along with making comics and face painting, I think tattoos is another way for him to create by also making other people happy,” the mother explained. “He gets inspired from his favorite movies, books, and the music he listens to,” she detailed where the boy draws inspiration for his current art.

Katie revealed that Thomas draws every single day and tries to do so as much as possible. “From the time he wakes up, when waiting for the school bus, on the school bus, and even in class,” she told us. Apparently, the boy’s need to draw and create was so big, he got himself in trouble at school for drawing all over his class assignments and homework. “That’s when he started drawing on himself but his 5th grade teacher this year, Mrs. Green, has encouraged him and supported him tremendously,” Katie revealed that a teacher helps Thomas out with his artistic passion. The mother detailed how it has improved the boy’s life:
“She informed me at parent teacher conferences that he will sometimes draw full murals on his desk with pencil, and she lets him do it to get it out of his system as long as he wipes it off at the end of the day. Ever since then, she has seen an improvement in his concentration and grades. She informed me that students will sometimes pay Thomas for his sketches. One day, he came home from school and said, “Mom can I give you a tattoo?” I agreed. And then we set up a station for him with gel pens and a tip jar, where he charged me 50 cents for each tattoo I got. Then his siblings all wanted one.”

“Thomas has expressed he wants to be one of 3 things when he gets older,” Katie said. It’s either a tattoo artist, a movie/sfx (special effects) makeup artist, or an actor. And the boy’s Instagram page definitely showcases his aspirations as it’s filled with images of his art, including face paint. “Anything that will let him live a life of expression and creativity, he wants to do,” Katie told Bored Panda.
Since the mother posted Thomas’ work on her Facebook page, the support from people has been overwhelming:
“He has had tattoo artists from Canada and Columbia reach out to him and commission him for some pieces. Tattoos By Skinny LLC in PA hired Thomas to create flash sheets for him, and every time someone gets one of Thomas’ tattoos, they will be sending a portion of the tips to him. Salt Water Tattoos in Canada sent out a gift package of merchandise. As well as other lovely people writing him letters saying he is inspiring and that they are artists who wish they were supported and encouraged at a young age like his family has been.”

Here’s what people had to say about the boy’s art

Jason Momoa is Ozzy Osbourne. Or is it the other way around? Fans of Momoa and the Prince of Darkness alike can’t handle the concentrated awesomeness in Osbourne’s promotional clip for his latest album, Ordinary Man. (If that isn’t the most metal album name ever, I don’t know what is.)

In the teaser video, Khal Drogo Aquaman Conan the Barbarian Momoa steps into Ozzy’s shoes (and cowl) as he lip-syncs the brand new Scary Little Green Men song. If you haven’t listened to the full song yet, I heartily recommend it. I’ve never been a huge Osbourne fan, but the song might have just changed my mind about the singer. I’m not sure how I’ll have to tell my parents.

Scroll down for the full video featuring Momoa and let us know in the comments if you think the Hollywood actor makes a good Prince of Darkness.

It’s only fitting that Osbourne and his team approached renowned actor and muscle-master Momoa—he’s a major metalhead.

In fact, Momoa previously said that Tool, Metallica, and Black Sabbath inspired him when playing his characters on-screen, including Aquaman.

“Aquaman’s pretty metal. I know no one thinks that, but Aquaman’s metal. I kind of build my characters off of metal songs. Conan The Barbarian was really heavy Pantera, I’d say Aquaman was probably mostly built out of Tool and Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All. Ticks and Leeches, if I want to get specific. There’s a lot of Sabbath in there too.”

What’s more, Momoa was at Slayer’s final show in Los Angeles, sang Pantera songs with heavy metal superstar Philip Anselmo, and even took death metal singing—scratch that, screaming—lessons from Oli Peters of Archspire.

Ozzy suffers from Parkinson’s disease and had to cancel his concert tour

Osbourne’s newest album came out on the 21st of February 2020. However, it’s release is slightly marred by the fact that Ozzy canceled his 2020 North American concert tour. The Prince of Darkness is currently engaged in battle with his inner demons (health issues, including Parkinson’s disease) and is seeking treatment in The Old World (Europe).

Bored Panda reached out to Parkinson’s, a UK-based charity that fights for better care, treatments, and quality of life for those affected by the disease. We spoke to Claire Bale, Head of Research and Engagement at the charity, to learn more about Parkinson’s disease, as well as to learn whether Osbourne will be able to continue his career.

“Everyone’s Parkinson’s is unique, so different combinations of medication, exercise and therapies will suit different people,” Bale told Bored Panda. “Medication can be incredibly effective in helping people manage their symptoms, but current treatments cannot slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s and also come with serious side effects. That’s why Parkinson’s UK is striving to find new and better treatments for the 145,000 people living with the condition in the UK.”

“We’re currently funding more than 40 research projects into Parkinson’s. Every project works towards delivering better treatments and one day a cure. For example, recent research has shown that 2.5 hours of vigorous exercise each week can be as effective at controlling symptoms as medication.”

According to Bale, “The last big breakthrough in the treatment of Parkinson’s came through Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). The process involves electrodes placed into the brain that, when switched on, can help with some of the movement symptoms of Parkinson’s. Our research has helped demonstrate the life-changing benefits this surgical therapy can have and now approximately 300 people with Parkinson’s have DBS in the UK every year.”

“However, DBS is not a cure and it isn’t suitable for everyone. That’s why we’re driving forward pioneering research to develop new and better treatments. We were the majority funder of the recent groundbreaking clinical trial of GDNF: an experimental drug that was delivered directly to the brain via a revolutionary delivery system designed specifically for the task. And we’re funding a new study exploring the potential of cannabidiol, a chemical derived from cannabis, for treating the terrifying hallucinations that many with Parkinson’s experience at some point with the condition.”

Looking for a cure for Parkinson’s

The charity’s ultimate goal is to find a cure for the disease. Bale told us that they “won’t stop” until they achieve this.

“A cure would mean that people could live entirely free from the condition. But because Parkinson’s varies so much from person to person, there may not be a single ‘cure.’ Instead, we may need a range of different therapies that can be used in combination to meet the needs of the individual and their specific form of the condition. In the past 50 years, we’ve made vital discoveries that have revolutionized our understanding of Parkinson’s and the brain. Armed with this hard-won knowledge, we now believe the science is ready for us to develop the new treatments and cure that people with Parkinson’s so desperately need.”

But what are the chances that Osbourne will be able to continue his career? According to Bale, “Parkinson’s affects everyone differently, and many people with Parkinson’s are able to continue working for many years, depending on the type of job they have and how their symptoms progress. We hope Ozzy will be entertaining us for many years to come.”

She added: “Parkinson’s is what happens when the brain cells that make dopamine start to die. It can affect anyone at any age. There are over 40 symptoms, from tremors and pain to anxiety. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure yet.”

Fans couldn’t handle the amount of awesomeness in Ozzy and Momoa’s video

School as a concept is anything but exciting with its strict formalities and serious focus on education, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t actually be fun.

School can be a very exciting place, whether it is due to amazing teachers with their great personalities and lessons, or the students themselves seeking out adventure in the school halls… or the underground.

In our case, it’s the latter.

While schools are a place of learning, they are also, naturally, a place of mischief among students

Dean Lines, a screenwriter from Manchester, England, recently took to Twitter to respond to a question originally posted on Reddit: what was “the incident” in your high school? What followed was a hilariously crazy story about an elaborate plan to break into the school’s vending machine storage through underground tunnels that Dean and his friends had accidentally found whilst skipping French class

Bored Panda got in touch with Dean Lines for an interview.

A twitter user recalls a story where he and his friends went on an elaborate “candy heist” in his school

Apparently, Dean’s school had hatches that led to underground tunnels for the heating system

The gang figured out that they can gain access to the school’s storage room through the tunnels

Much to Dean’s surprise, this story went viral: “I was very surprised to see the story go viral. I’ve posted a few other tales from my misbegotten youth but never had a response like this. It’s lovely to see so many people enjoying a story I’ve told a thousand times before in the pub… but at the same time, it’s overwhelming. The sheer number of likes, retweets, and comments pretty much crashed my phone instantly.”

So, they make an elaborate plan, gather all of the necessities, and enter the tunnels

The first sign of trouble: the underground surroundings are different this time, hindering their progress

“Other than fixing all the horrible typos, I wish I had included the small mini heist that took place the week before we decided to go back into the tunnels,” elaborated Dean. “Someone got word there was a schematic of the school building on Tommy the Caretaker’s office wall. So, we spent a morning figuring out a way of getting our hands on that to help navigate the tunnels. We ended up getting it but it was useless. It just had the above-ground layout. Just another dead end…”

What first started off with slight obstacles, ended up with someone’s hand inside a carcass of a fox

They lose it and bolt out of the tunnels, making a great deal of noise along the way

Determined to crack the vending machine storage room, they try again a week later

If there’s one story, there are bound to be more. Bored Panda asked if there are others that he’ll be sharing in the future. He said this: “More in the future? There’s the time we robbed the local dairy and got caught by my mom who worked there and yet somehow managed to convince her not to trust her lying eyes.”

“I still feel bad about that one. But yeah, there must be a dozen other stories like that. I’m sure they’ll get posted eventually. Usually, when I’m avoiding doing the real work of making up imaginary stories to pay the bills…”

However, the jig is up when word gets out and now everyone wants a piece of the action

A teacher stumbled upon them and 28 students had to be extracted out of the tunnels by the fire brigade

The story goes that Dean and his friends accidentally found a hatch in the school’s drum room that led to underground heating system maintenance tunnels. Because of the way the school was built, they quickly figured out that they could access the school’s vending machine storage, where the candy was theirs for the taking.

Thus, a candy heist was now in the works. They made an elaborate plan, got all of the needed equipment, and made the necessary preparations. Unfortunately, despite what seemed like very sufficient planning, the first “expedition” was interrupted by a dead fox carcass.

The second try had to be it—they prepared even more and for every possible hindrance. However, word got out about the heist and now everyone wanted a piece of the action. The jig was up when the music teacher walked in on 28 students attempting to use the tunnels to get to the storage room.

Despite being caught, nobody really knew who was to blame for this and it seems that Dean and his friends got off scot-free. And it turned out to be an amazing read—as of this article, the tweet thread has received over 325,000 likes with over 65,000 retweets.

After 10 years of being on YouTube, Madilyn Bailey has accumulated an impressive 7 million subscriber base. Her videos have been viewed nearly 1 billion times, making the 27-year-old one of the most popular singer-songwriters on the platform. However, throughout this time, Madilyn has also received a lot of hate.

Fueled by jealousy and contempt, random jerks are trying to discredit, devalue, and downplay the performer and her accomplishments. And these pitiful folks aren’t holding anything back. Their hurtful comments attack everything from Madilyn’s looks to her abilities. Her whole being.

But the YouTuber doesn’t let them get her down. On the contrary. She’s even making fun of the troll culture. And she’s doing it through the thing she loves most. Music. Madilyn has created a few songs using only the negative comments she’s received and even though it’s baffling to hear how cruel some people are, it’s also nice to know that they aren’t winning against the charismatic singer.

Most of us have probably run into “critics” bashing our life, work, and relationship choices. So how do we deal with it? Let’s look for answers in a brilliant piece by the New York Times bestselling author, James Clear. And believe me, he’s quite the expert in the field. Clear said there’s someone always whining about how his articles are totally worthless every month. “At least those people commented on the actual article. Hate mail gets even better when people start ignoring your work entirely and make judgments about you as a person instead,” he wrote.

“It doesn’t matter what you do, there will always be someone who finds fault in it.”

According to him, if you focus on criticism and negativity thrown at you by difficult people, you’ll run right into it. “You’ll get blocked by negative emotions, anger, and self-doubt. Your mind will go where your attention is focused. Criticism and negativity don’t prevent you from reaching the finish line, but they can certainly distract you from it.”

Clear said the best option to overcome it is by ignoring it altogether. “If you focus on the road in front of you and on moving forward, then you can safely speed past the walls and barriers that are nearby,” he added. “When someone dishes out a negative comment, use that as a signal to recommit to your work and to refocus on the road ahead of you. Some people are determined to take things personally and tear down the work of others.”

Life’s too short to worry about pleasing everyone. Especially all the toxic trolls.

And it’s not the first time she did it!
